The right candidate for this role is a strong leader with significant senior-level experience and success in global communications and public relations who can lead communications strategy in support of Delta's business goals, brand, reputation and culture. This role reports to the vice president, corporate communications and leads a team with members located around the world.

Specifically, this role is responsible for driving strategic communications programs to position Delta as the preferred U.S. airline in key international markets. This includes:

  • Providing strategic communications — from business communications to brand-building public relations programs — in support of international executives, initiatives and business partners.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure message/voice alignment for international matters.
  • Providing strategic guidance and professional growth for a global team of seasoned communications professionals, effectively managing agency relationships in regions around the world and developing collaborative relationships with counterparts at partner airlines.
  • Advancing Delta’s international narrative with key U.S. and global media, including promoting Delta’s alliance partnerships as a key advantage.

Flexibility is essential as Corporate Communications team members may periodically shift their focus to adapt to team needs and/or business priorities.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Ability to move seamlessly between big strategic thinking and tactical execution and juggle competing priorities.
  • Ability to act as strategic counsel to and foster constructive relationships with individuals at all levels, including senior-level executives, peers and frontline employees
  • Diplomacy, positivity, keen problem-solving, critical thinking, and the ability to receive and deliver constructive criticism
  • Strategic, solutions-oriented approach and ease working collaboratively across teams
  • Strong team orientation and relationship-building skills; predisposition to seek and integrate diverse viewpoints
  • Honesty, integrity, respectfulness, perseverance and servant leadership, and the ability to foster these core Delta values and bring out the best in team members
  • Passion for measurement and analysis to drive results and prioritize work
  • Excellent verbal and writing capabilities, storytelling expertise in multiple mediums
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in Corporate Communications, Employee Relations, Public Relations and/or Marketing Communications, including media relations expertise and day-to-day relationships with senior executives, people management and managing a budget
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential
  • Travel required
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
