The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is the state's lead agency responsible for strengthening the state’s competitive position in all areas of economic development, tourism, and culture.

The Connecticut Office of Tourism works to make tourism a leading economic contributor and a source of pride for Connecticut. The office partners with the Connecticut business community and regional tourism districts to position the state as a prime destination for leisure and business travelers and encourage strategic investment.

In addition to a broad range of services, including marketing, research, hospitality services, direct sales and business marketing assistance, the Office of Tourism operates the state’s official tourism website and social media sites.

Your Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Director of Tourism (Executive Assistant 2) that will be responsible for promoting Connecticut as a world class tourism and travel destination. At this critical moment for Connecticut’s Tourism Industry we seek a leader who brings deep industry expertise, passion, inclusive leadership, and public-private partnership experience that will enable opportunity and growth for Connecticut’s Tourism assets and economy.
This is an appointed, full-time position serving as part of the Office of Tourism. We are located at 450 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford, CT and easily accessible to all major highways. The anticipated work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required to work occasional nights and weekends as Commissioner and Agency needs dictate. Telework schedules are available along with a comprehensive benefits package.
The selected candidate will be appointed by the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development in accordance with sections 5-198 (10) of the Connecticut General Statutes, as qualified by Public Act 13-247.
