What will I be doing? 

As the Senior Director, Communications and External Affairs - Greater China & Mongolia (GCM), you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    • Responsible for developing and delivering a wide-ranging communications and external affairs strategy – with oversight of corporate (internal / external) and consumer communications, corporate responsibility and government affairs.
    • Create strategic narrative for the Area President and members of the senior team, including functional leaders.
    • Manage, inspire and develop the communications and external affairs team in China and across the sub-region, with oversight of hotel and cluster communications teams at a property level.
    • From a communications standpoint:
        • Develop a full range of internal and external communication strategies and initiatives to support the company’s strategic priorities.
        • Develop strategies and tactics for owned/earned and paid media across the portfolio of owned/managed/franchised hotels in GCM.
        • Create and manage new channels of communicating with the company’s audiences, including social media, being more creative with the content being produced and enabling stronger engagement with target audiences.
        • Create high levels of engagement with key audiences and ensure alignment with global and regional campaigns and messaging.
    • From a corporate responsibility standpoint:
        • Work closely with and provide strategic counsel to APAC CR Lead, ensuring local relevance and high business impact.
    • From a government affairs standpoint:
        • Build relationships with government officials in provinces where Hilton has hotel operations or planned development to ensure that provincial policies are aligned with the needs of our business.
        • Monitor and influence development of legislation and regulations of interest to Hilton properties.
    • Manage issues management processes and communications in the GCM region and inform the relevant senior team and global corporate communications as appropriate.
    • Lead on key global initiatives as appropriate and agreed with the leadership group.
    • This role aims to manage a team of 3 to 4 across GCM.
  • This role reports into VP of Communications and External Affairs for APAC and works closely with the Area President of GCM.

 

Requirements

A Senior Director, Communications and External Affairs - Greater China & Mongolia serving Hilton Brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications / digital communications or related fields
    • At least 15 years of Communications experience in a matrixed, corporate environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills to solve problems effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, professionalism and integrity
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to positively influence stakeholders and to communicate effectively at all levels
    • Ability to produce professional presentations and materials for an executive audience
    • Strong time management skills, including the ability to handle details through to completion and ensure deadlines are met
    • Detail-oriented and a self-starter
    • Ability to manage and execute stakeholder feedback
    • Internal communications experience for a large global corporation will be useful
  • Experience in hospitality is favorable
