While consumer travel has yet to fully rebound, a new report from IBM shows that there are promising signs on the horizon. The report, for example, showed that as more consumers receive the COVID-19 vaccine, air travel may see an uptick in demand. In fact, 30 percent of the 1,500 people surveyed for the report said they’re planning to fly more often than they did last year at this time as a result of the vaccine rollout. The vaccine may also reinvigorate business travel, the report found, with the number of respondents comfortable travelling for business increasing two to four times in most countries.
And there’s even more good news to report: Women Leading Travel & Hospitality will be hosting its second Virtual Exchange on Thurs., May 20, at 11 a.m. ET. The complimentary event will feature a fantastic speaker lineup. Here is some information about three of the speakers scheduled to participate:
- Toby O’Rourke is the president and CEO of Kampgrounds of America, Inc., which owns KOA, the world’s largest system of private campgrounds and a leader in outdoor hospitality with over 525 franchised and company-owned locations across North America, as well as Terramor Outdoor Resort, a new “glamping” brand with a flagship property in Maine. Toby joined KOA in 2011 as the company’s digital marketing director, and shortly thereafter began leading the marketing organization. In that position, she drove the launch of KOA’s award-winning integrated advertising and public relations campaign, “What’s Behind the Yellow Sign?” and advanced KOA’s data-driven marketing approach. Prior to being promoted to president and CEO, Toby served as the chief operations officer for KOA, overseeing franchise services, marketing, sales and technology. In her Virtual Exchange session, Toby will discuss her career, her leadership philosophy, and KOA’s phenomenal growth over the past few years.
- Erica Orange is the vice president and chief operating officer of The Future Hunters, one of the world’s leading futurist consulting firms. She analyzes emerging sociocultural, technological, economic, geopolitical and environmental trends, and identifies the strategic implications (the “So what?”) of those trends for influential Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and public sector clients. In her presentation, Erica will address three new luxuries and currencies for the future, or what she calls the “Three T’s” — time, trust and truth.
- Lisa Checchio is the chief marketing officer for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, where she’s responsible for leading efforts to promote Wyndham’s portfolio of 20 brands spanning approximately 9,000 hotels in 90 countries. Prior to the spin-off of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in 2018, Lisa served as senior vice president of global brands for Wyndham Hotel Group. Lisa joined the company in 2015 as vice president of brand marketing. Lisa has also served in various marketing positions at JetBlue Airways, and earlier in her career, she worked in event management in professional tennis. Lisa will wrap up this can’t-miss event with some fantastic leadership insight and advice.
