I’m excited to be celebrating Women’s Equality Day this week! For those of you that don’t know, August 26 was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Fifty years later on August 26, 1970, feminist activists joined ranks on this day to remind our legislators that the buck doesn’t stop there. They organized a protest with over 100,000 women to campaign for equality in education, employment and childcare. This day symbolizes the relentless fight for equal rights that we all want for ourselves and the young girls and women in our lives.

Although this past year hasn’t been easy and has negatively affected women across all industries, Women Leading Travel & Hospitality is here to help. We as women have done so much to get to where we are today and we’re excited to walk the talk with such incredible women like yourselves, by our sides, until we get to where we need to be. Women’s Equality Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on the continuing struggle for equality in the workplace and the role of women everywhere at home, in the office, etc., and the goal of clearing barriers, enforcing laws, implementing new ideas, and helping to change people’s attitudes. This day is a wonderful reminder that we all have the opportunity — and the responsibility — to create a society that gives both men and women equal voice.

As Women Leading Travel & Hospitality continues to lead the charge in uniting, inspiring and empowering the incredible women in the travel and hospitality industry, we celebrate the path that the executive leaders in this industry have already created and most importantly YOU, the trailblazers, and your determined pursuit of equality.
