Ginger Collins leads franchise sales support at G6 Hospitality. She is also a Women Leading Travel & Hospitality member!
In this member spotlight, we asked her a series of questions about motivating team members, where the future of the industry is headed, and more so you can get to know her better.
- What’s the best book you’ve read recently?
“The 12 Week Year” by Brian P. Morgan. - What do you love most about the industry?
Coming from a former military spouse, the job has excellent mobility. The skills you learn in one location are instantly transferrable to another. - What is something the community may be surprised to learn about you?
I always carry a fishing pole in my trunk. You never know when you will find a good pond. - What’s the toughest part of being in charge?
Keeping yourself from burnout. - What’s the best way you motivate team members?
Celebrate wins — no matter how big or small. Get to know what makes each individual “tick” and acknowledge them in the way that they would like to be seen. - What woman inspires you right now and why?
Oh boy, so many women to choose from. I am going to say Angie Gadwood, Vice president of sales for G6 Hospitality. Angie is fearless, has a clear vision and leads from the front. She is someone I aspire to be “when I grow up”. - Where do you believe the future of the industry is headed?
Hospitality will always be centered around customer experiences and technology will continue to affect how we interact with our customers. New technologies will challenge us to think outside of the box to deepen relationships with travelers. - What is one thing you look for when interviewing a potential candidate?
Do they ask good questions? - What’s something that you learned about yourself in the past year?
I will always figure it out. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. - What’s your favorite podcast?
“On Purpose” with Jay Shetty. - What values are most important to you as a leader?
Integrity and consistency. - What’s the most important thing people should know about you?
I’m extremely loyal. - Do you prefer to work in the office, at home, or hybrid?
I prefer a hybrid schedule. The ability to work both in the office and at home allows me to have balance and be the best I can be in many areas of my life (mom, wife and employee). I do think spending days in the office is important to have for that needed human touch base. It helps everyone to understand how teammates work and collaborate on ideas. - Where is your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
Hilo, Hawaii. If you ever get the chance, visit Carlsmith Beach Park, you can hop in the ocean and swim with wild sea turtles. - What is a top item on your bucket list?
Write a book. - What do you do to recharge?
Work out, go fishing or spend a few minutes alone. - What is your biggest accomplishment?
Having the opportunity to advocate and make an impact for military spouses and veterans through my time employed at La Quinta. - What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?
Stay nimble and be ready for unexpected change. Change is inevitable. - What gets you up in the morning?
The drive to show my daughter that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. - What are you looking forward to most about being a member of Women Leading Travel & Hospitality?
I am looking forward to soaking up the knowledge from the content provided and connecting with like-minded women in leadership.
