In today’s fast-paced world, the concept of work-life balance often feels elusive, especially for women in executive roles. But what if we’ve been approaching it all wrong?
Tiffany Yvonne Gratton, CPA and CEO of Playmaker Solutions, led Women Leading Travel & Hospitality and Women in Retail Leadership Circle members through an engaging, thought-provoking workshop teaching practical strategies for integrating self-care into their daily routines.
With only two weeks left in the year, try this out for yourself to gain some more balance in 2025:
- What do you want the most out of life? List three things that you want at your core. Physically, intellectually, emotionally or financially.
- What experiences do you want to have? List three things you would like to experience in your lifetime. What would you like to see happen in any aspect of your life?
- What makes you unique? List those three things, those gifts that make you you. Maybe you’re relatable or you choose joy as your disposition. Perhaps resiliency is what makes you unique.
- What positive actions will you take? List three improvements or positive actions you can take over the next two weeks. Begin the statement with “I can … “
Once you’re done, select your top answer from each of those four questions — the one that resonates the most. These four questions will lead you to your mission statement around balance. You’ll put it together like this:
- I will (your top answer to question No. 4)
- Using my (your top answer to question No. 3)
- To accomplish (your top answer to question No. 2)
- And in doing so achieve (your top answer to question No. 1)
It will look something like Yvonne’s example: “I will lean into lifelong self-care practices daily using my resilience to accomplish gaining access to speak on stages that ignite peace, joy and well(th) for others — especially busy, ambitious women. And in doing so, also achieve personal well(th) of mind, money, body and soul.”
Women Leading Travel & Hospitality members can watch Yvonne’s full workshop, where she also talks about the self-care maturity model, on demand. Not a member? Apply today!
