At a recent On the Road event for Women Leading Travel & Hospitality’s sister brand, Women in Retail Leadership Circle (WIRLC), a speaker asked attendees how many of them had teams that were fully staffed.
Only one person raised their hand.
In this new world of work, talent recruitment and retainment is harder than ever. According to the latest employment report by the U.S. Travel Association, the leisure and hospitality industry has a higher share of jobs lots than any industry except for mining. Furthermore, the industry experienced a surge of resignations in 2020 and 2021, and even into 2022. In March, 889,000 leisure and hospitality workers quit their jobs, according to the U.S. Travel Association.
So what can companies, recruiters, human resources departments and leaders do to ensure they’re implementing the right strategies to hire and keep the best employees?
Women Leading Travel & Hospitality’s upcoming Virtual Workshop, being held this Thursday, June 16 at 12 p.m. ET, will walk attendees through how to attract and retain the best talent in the post-pandemic world. Denise Kramp, senior partner, retail and consumer at Korn Ferry, and Craig Rowley, senior client partner at Korn Ferry, will explain what’s happening in the world of work that’s making it so difficult to find and keep good talent, as well as the dos and don’ts of attracting and retaining employees.
Best of all, the workshop is free for Women Leading Travel & Hospitality members! Just email me (malbiges@napco.com) for the promo code. The cost for nonmembers is $79. Sign up here for this interactive workshop.
