Early in her career, Peggy Roe met a life coach at an airport during a flight delay. That chance meeting redirected her career.

Roe, the executive vice president and chief customer officer at Marriott International, shared how she got her start in the travel and hospitality industry during her keynote at the 2025 Women Leading Travel & Hospitality Summit. Stuck in an unfulfilling job, she considered what brought her joy and explored two potential paths for her career: event planning or delving into another industry, like aviation. Then came the unexpected suggestion to explore a career in hotels.

In this clip from her keynote, Roe shares how her initial venture into the hotel industry has blossomed into a decades-long career at Marriott. She encourages leaders to pursue happiness in their professional lives and to stay open to unexpected opportunities that arise.
