The retail world has changed dramatically since renowned designer and entrepreneur Rebecca Minkoff launched her career, and it continues to evolve rapidly today. How does she stay innovative and agile in the face of ever-changing customer expectations and digital disruptions?

Minkoff answered this question during her recent keynote session at the 2025 Women in Retail Leadership Summit, hosted by Women Leading Travel & Hospitality’s sister brand, Women in Retail Leadership Circle. In this clip from her conversation with Fern Mallis, creator of New York Fashion Week and president of Fern Mallis LLC, Minkoff shares why her and her co-founder decided technology wouldn’t scare them, but help them differentiate the business and succeed. Even if that meant some efforts failed, it was still a great learning opportunity, according to Minkoff.

“We weren’t afraid to try, fail and learn,” Minkoff told the audience. “I always encourage people, ‘What is the worst thing that could happen by trying? And you’ll always learn something.'”
