Monday, September 22, marks the annual observance of American Business Women’s Day, a moment to reflect on the achievements, resilience and innovation of women driving progress across industries. This is a powerful annual reminder of the more than 68 million working women and 7.7 million women business owners who keep the American economy moving forward, many of whom are our very own members in travel, tourism and hospitality.
The roots of this day trace back to 1949, when trailblazers in Kansas City founded the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) with a bold vision: to create pathways for women to grow, lead and thrive in their careers. Decades later, that mission still resonates, especially in sectors like ours, where women continue to transform the way the world travels, connects and experiences luxury.
At Women Leading Travel, we know that the women in our community are more than leaders. They are innovators, culture shapers and changemakers. From reimagining the future of travel post-pandemic to building inclusive workplaces and mentoring the next generation of talent, our members embody the very spirit this day celebrates.
