Women Leading Travel & Hospitality’s next Virtual Exchange is only a few weeks away! Have you registered yet for the complimentary event, which is taking place on Thurs., Aug. 25? Here are some reasons why you should attend.
Opening the event at 12 p.m. ET will be June Ellen Ryan. During her highly successful career in the United States Coast Guard, Ryan was a trailblazer, achieving many historical firsts for women, including becoming the first enlisted woman to rise to the rank of Rear Admiral. She was the first woman to serve as the Military Advisory to the Secretary of Homeland Security and only the third woman in our nation’s history to serve as the Military Aide to the President of the United States.
Prior to her retirement in October 2017, Ryan served as the Commander, Ninth Coast Guard District (Great Lakes Region), leading the 6,000 men and women of the Coast Guard across an area of responsibility that spanned eight states and a 1,500 mile international maritime border. She again made history as the first woman to hold that assignment.
Ryan continues to serve as an advocate for women and diversity programs as an active community leader, volunteer and nonprofit board member. She’s a 2017 graduate of the esteemed Leadership Cleveland program, and was elected by her peers to serve as the class president. She continues her strong advocacy for civic leadership and community service as a member of the 2018 Leadership Cleveland 2 cohort.
During the Virtual Exchange, Ryan will speak about paving the way for other women, leadership, and anything else you’d like to learn from her! Get your questions ready.
