As we transition into September, with the leaves changing and kids excited to go back to school, it’s a season filled with last-minute to-dos, challenging feelings, and difficult transitions. Yet, for many of us — especially those of us who are mothers and executives — this time of year also brings with it new beginnings and opportunities for lasting growth, especially among the women at Women Leading Travel & Hospitality.

Just as we wrap up the fiscal year by reviewing performance and setting new goals, we can apply the same reflection to our personal and professional lives. Ask yourself, “What do I want from this year professionally?” If you’re a mother with kids heading off to school or college, this question might resonate even more. It’s a moment to set new goals, establish professional benchmarks, and consider how you can evolve as a better, more impactful leader.

Sometimes all that is required to masterfully transition a new beginning is simply the willingness to say “yes” and show up.

So, as you review your professional inventory, have you taken advantage of the workshops and peer groups offered through our organization? Perhaps it’s time to brush up on your skills — whether in digital transformation, AI, or enhancing communication with a new generation of graduates who were raised on YouTube.

If you’ve been hesitant about joining Women Leading Travel & Hospitality, now is the perfect time. We always offer regional roundtables featuring top speakers in the travel and hospitality industry, and strive to create a unique, women-centric environment – with each event outdoing the next. Remember, we are walking the walk too. Complacency is not part of our mission. It is why our members often say, “Do it. Join. There is nothing like this networking group.” So, if you have not been in a while, or you have never been, register for the next roundtable in New York on Oct. 28! As always, we appreciate your continued commitment and active involvement, in whatever way works for you. And, at the same time, we are invested in your success. So, if life has been a bit hectic lately and you’ve missed out on some of our recent offers, now is an ideal time to reconnect. Workshops, Virtual Exchanges, and peer groups — they are ongoing. Sign up if you can. If you are just slammed and can’t see the sun, engaging with our LinkedIn page is a perfect way to stay involved in the conversation. We value your involvement and welcome your suggestions.

Another great way to start fresh is by attending one of our regional meetups. These low-pressure gatherings, held at beautiful venues across the country, allow members and non-members to network, chat, and exchange ideas in a relaxed setting. If there isn’t a meetup in your area, consider becoming an ambassador and starting a group! We’d also love to feature you in our Member Spotlight if you’ve had a particularly challenging or impactful year professionally.

As we embrace this season of change, let’s remember that life is waiting for us to say “yes” to new opportunities and to embrace new beginnings. If you’re looking for a fresh start, there’s no better way than by engaging with our incredible community at Women Leading Travel & Hospitality. Join us and be part of something special. Happy September!
